DIKSON is Don Peretz’s 2021 LP excursion into the improvisational
avant-jazz-tronica realm. A band featuring stalwarts of New York’s progressive jazz and indie rock scene, DIKSON is an exploration of human instrumental improvisation morphing into song form. Featuring tenor saxophonist
Donny McCaslin of David Bowie’s Blackstar album, New York
fusion-guitar-shaman Oz Noy, bassist Dave Edwards,
and Paris Monster co-pilot Josh Dion doubling on drums with Peretz.

CONTINUUM marks the 2019 solo electronica EP release for drummer/composer Don Peretz on the Deepdig label.
“Exploring the space of electronic soundscapes mixed with human performance and ‘time manipulation’ has always been an important therapeutic muse to me. I hope you enjoy it.”- DP

“Lalita” released!

After several collaborative EP releases in the past four years, Don Peretz returns to his solo IDM project to release “Lalita.” The Sanskrit term for “playfulness with life’s seriousness,” Lalita delves deeply into electronica synth mod layering and experimentation, along with Peretz’ signature drumming. Lalita marks Don Peretz’ third solo electronica release after Stil (2013) and AMbean (2011). Peretz describes the record as “a collection of hundreds of composed loops and progressions written over several years, based on observations, experiences, and ideas, distilled into 11 soundscapes.” The track “Dorthea” is an example of Peretz’ current musical headspace, turning to Dorthea Lange’s monumental photography of the mid 20th century American landscape to express the sound of true living conditions. The consummate electronica track on the LP “Sugarcookie” highlights Peretz’ drum set instrumentalism, along with meticulous synth composing and production. The LP’s deep contrast in tracks, like “Lobsang” reveal the minimalist side of Don’s writing through a lonely, drone textured melody. Lalita encapsulates Peretz’ production, composition, and instrumental range with a palpable intellectual and emotional depth.

The new HUMBY SQUARE ep ONE released!!

New York musicians John Roggie and Don Peretz bring their experience from late night R&B bands and avant-garde jazz tours of Europe, to the meticulousness of an electronica record to produce ONE. It all starts with two musicians and a click tempo to organically and improvisationally form the content and context of each track. The music grows from there. “We wanted to establish a distinctive, connective performance relationship with each other as well as the listener,” explains Peretz, “putting human instrument performance substantially back into dance and electronic music to create a specific listening connection.” Humby Square can be found on a club’s dance floor or in an audiophile’s comfy home chair.
